I need your cabinet input!!!

Next on my task list is to find cabinets that I really, REALLY want!  That is where YOU my loyal readers come in.  I have priced several different types but I think I need to price a few more.  Of course, I immediately thought Merrilat but I have had some less than stellar recommendations from several people.  So, the first cabinets I priced were from Menard's and they were made by Shrock.
This is pretty close to the color that I want and the style is going to be slightly different....a bit more simple!

I wanted to share some pictures but those damn pictures are copyrighted within and inch of their lives.

Then I went to this place called American Cabinets and Countertops down on Airport Highway.  I had a certain cabinet all picked out but of course I couldn't get them in the color I wanted.  I am dead set on the color I want and was not budging.  Soooooooo I found another manufacturer that had the color and style I wanted and I SWEAR that not 5 minutes prior the salesman was saying those were the crappiest cabinets they had.  You can't imagine how fast he changed his song and dance one he was trying to sell me those crappy cabinets ;)  Nevermind......

Yeah I am not seeing the style that I wanted but this is the color I want.....Espresso.  This cabinet quote came in about $3,000 less than the Shrock's which made me think even more that they weren't as great quality.

I am now thinking about hitting Home Depot and getting a price on some Kraftmaid Cabinets.  I know exactly what I want, it is just a matter of finding it for the best price and getting the biggest bang for my buck!!

Any of you out there have any advice on cabinet manufacturers?  Believe me I appreciate all the input that I can get!  Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts :-)

I am going to take a road trip to Menard's and Home Depot this weekend (hopefully) so I will have some live action photos of the cabinets I want.  There won't be anybody copyrightin' those photos over my shoulder!

So, so many decisions to make......

Oh and in the meantime, I need to go buy the rest of these for the house so I can check off one item for the house as completely purchased.  Yeah, yeah so they're just doorknobs but those are the little things that get ya in the end!

Oh and tomorrow night I will write up the birthday girl's post!

I really need to visit the storage unit!

Before mom and dad kick us out ;)  I have way too much crap stacking up in the loft!  The loft, also known as, our "living room" looks like a burying ground for new home goods.  Holy crap I have accumulated a whole lotta stuff and need to put it somewhere.  Pretty much ANYWHERE but the loft.

There is my very efficient coupon filing system.  Classy, huh?

Some of my stash from Ikea that is exploding at the seems.  Ya see what "as is" purchases get ya?  No packaging!

Then there is that debacle.  A waterfall of home goods, if you will.  There are some stainless steel mixing bowls, a wok, some towels, a duvet cover,  my hurricane vases for the kids' bathroom....and some fishies!

Basically way too much non-essential crap!  Soooooo I am hoping to take a road trip out to the storage unit to free up some space.  Speaking of WAY too much crap.  Wait'll you see the storage unit......

Oh and a little couponing update for ya!  I got all of this for $7.45!!

Heads up for tomorrow's post.  I am going to be spotlighting a very special little birthday girl!!

I am back in house planning mode!

Not sure what lit a fire under my a$$ but I finally got the urge to get back at it.  Oh hey wait!!  Maybe it was because I actually had a few nights with ZIP, ZERO, ZILCH softball and baseball.  Wow, it was glorious.  Don't get me wrong....I love to watch the kids play ball.  Although, it was extremely refreshing to have a few nights to do stuff that I wanted to do.  Annnnnndddddd that involved dreaming of my Shrock Cabinets and granite countertops.

Yep, I am sure that is exactly what I was dreaming about there!!

Sooooooooo I got an email from my new BFF's Lumber Liquidators and I know it is hard to believe but they are having ANOTHER sale ;)  It also so happens that in this sale I found a new hardwood floor that I LOVE!!  You wanna know the best part??  It is about $4,100 cheaper than the last floor I had picked out!  I say BRING IT!!

Here is the new flooring that I picked out....

I really love that it is dark but not too dark since all of my cabinets are going to be a mocha of some sort.  You know what else I love?  The price :-)

I got a little home sick yesterday!

Can you believe that?  After all those years of me whining about selling my house, I got home sick yesterday.  I don't know where it came from but I did!  I was looking on zillow.com to check out the houses that had sold recently in Pburg and stumbled across this.....
and then I stubmled across this....

that made me miss the kitchen and all the dinners we had there as a family (snipple, snipple)

And then one of our very last nights there sitting on the floor cuz all the furniture was gone :(

Then I smacked myself and snapped out of it and remembered this:

I told myself to suck it up buttercup and get over it!  I think it helped :)  Whew I feel much better now!

I need to stop checking the weather!

I really need to step away from weather.com.  Every time I go back and check the temperature for Sunday has gone up.  Grrrrrrrrr!!  Step away from the future forecast.....

Sun Jun 17

Isolated T-Storms
92°
67°
Isolated T-Storms
Chance of rain:

Maybe just maybe if I am lucky that 9 mph SSW wind will be a constant head wind ;)  Oh and if I am REALLY lucky the humidity will be 200%!!  We shall see......

Tree progress and marathon time!!

So there's not a whole lotta house building going on at the property but there is a ton of tree demo.  We have almost all the trees cleared out along the ditch and have two GINORMOUS piles of brush to burn.  We are also gonna burn the ditch but will need to have plenty of help so as not to burn down the metropolis town of Pburg!

So while we've been cutting down a crap ton of trees we've also had some that are growing.  Remember that teeny tiny pine "tree" that Jake brought home from Ag Day and we planted?  Well check this baby out!

Can you believe that?  Who would have thought that it would have actually survived.

There's my boys doing some weeding to keep that baby growing.  Man, you might be able to see it from the road in a good 20 years :)

Ok, onto marathon week!

Yep, I am running the Ann Arbor Marathon Sunday morning.  Let me tell you how thrilled Ryan was when he realized it was Father's Day!  Sorry honey, I really did NOT realize it was Father's Day til after I signed up.  PINKY PROMISE <3

Ok, ok I am focusing.  So according to the future forecast it is supposed to be 91 degrees.  Say it with me....AWESOME!!  That was my worst fear with a June marathon.  Oh well check out my new kicks:

I've been running in them for about 2 weeks to get 'em ready.  So this week is full of rest and lots of hydrating.....and NOT my normal form of hydration.

Yup, that was my last Busch Light until I cross the finish line on Sunday.  Oh and do you find it coincidental that my new nail polish matches my new shoes and quite possibly my new Nike shirt?  Total coincidence ;)

One final question.  How freaking HILARIOUS would it be if I wore this shirt in the marathon????
