The project that almost killed me!

Yeah, so that may be a little over dramatic but seriously Emma's desk about forced me into early furniture refinishing retirement.

Here are the before pictures of the desk.  Looks pretty simple right?  WRONG!!

Yep we even put our desks up on blocks out here in the country!

Here it is after I scuffed it up.

If you look closely you can tell that this project was not going well right off the get go.  Now, let me be honest with you.  I decided to do this on a Sunday and didn't want to run to my normal hardware store because it was 20 minutes away (read:  I was lazy).  Sooooo, I ran to the closest hardware store and got a different brand of paint.  Annnddddd in the words of Pretty Woman, "big mistake, HUGE!"  That paint was total garbage and fought me to the death.
I then came up with this really great moronic idea.....SPRAY PAINT.  Good lord, I didn't take any pictures because it was a train wreck.  So, that little ole desk sat up on blocks in the garage for a good month.  Finally Ryan told me to git 'er done and get it out of his man cave.
So, I made the right decision this time and went and got my usual paint.....Benjamin Moore Super Spec.

Here is the finished project and I really couldn't be happier!

The handles were pretty dark and beat up so I cleaned them up with soap and water and hit them with my favorite silver spray paint (I'll share that with you in another post).

Here is a little preview of what is going to be hung above the desk.

Finally, here is a little added detail that I added to the drawers.  I found this adorable drawer liner at The Dollar Tree (yes a DOLLAR people) and I lined her drawers with it.  Sooooooo cute :-)
