Kitchen Colors!

As we are getting oh so close to breaking ground, I am really settling into my color scheme.  I know, I know it is hard to believe.  I mean what have I had, three or four years to plan?  Here is a picture that is VERY comparable to what our kitchen is going to look like!

The counter tops are very close to the same color granite we are getting and the cabinets are pretty close to the same color we are going with.  Not quite the same cabinet style but the color is close.  Even the range hood and the appliances are almost identical.  Wood floors will be a bit darker but pretty dang close!

Remember this picture?

Well it is going to go in our sun room which is right off the kitchen.  Kind of like the same color scheme as the breakfast room above.  However I am planning on going with a neutral colors on the wall but just using a bunch of the different greens as accents.

Now go figure, but I have picked up a few green things for the sun room and the kitchen.

I got this cozy throw (for the yet to be purchased love seat for the sun room) annnnnnnnddddddddd some swanky martini beer glasses.

Don't you just love them?  Awwwwwwww I can't wait to break them out!  Hurry up Spring and GET HERE!!!

                                                                   LOVES IT!!

Ok, next time I am going to share all of the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations that I have purchased for 80% - 90% off.  Hey Tommy and Johnna heads up, I might have a couple more totes to store in the basement.  Sshhhhhh don't tell Ryan about the fact that I have MORE stuff to store ;)

In case you cared....

here are the pictures of my pillows.  It is hard to get the full effect but they are soooo pretty in person.

And a little more up close and personal.

So, if you see any fluffy, cozy throws that match give me a holler!

I really NEED this bench!

Not sure if you guys remember my bedding that I bought, oh I don't know, 2 years ago!  If not, I will share to get you up to speed.  I got this for our master bedroom from Macy's probably pretty close to 2 years ago.

And here is a slightly better shot.

It is gray with a silver sheen to it.  I plan on painting our walls gray and going with lots of silver and white and some black accents.  Well I have been debating on an accent color.  Guess what?  I found it.  I found these SAAAWWWEEETTTT pillows at Home Goods that are gray and well kind of a bluish, greenish, sea foamy, teal.  Yeah, that IS a real color.  I bought 2 of those and love them.  I will take a picture and share tonight.

Cuz this will be going in our room right in front of the windows as a little reading area.  I need to find a super fluffy bluish, greenish, sea foamy, teal throw to put on the chair.  It just so happens that I found one at TJ Maxx and it was gone the next time I came back :(  Never fails!

So I have been on a mission to find a bench to put at the foot of our bed.  Thennnnn I found THIS!

I would have taken it home with me that day had I been absolutely sure that it was the correct color.  I fought the urge and decided to wait for 2 things.  1. for me to find a 25% off coupon and 2. to take my pillows with me to Pier 1 and make sure they look good together.

I also had Vanna White along with me to help model the bench.  You wanna know what else she did?  The minute we got home she said to Ryan "mom was going to buy more furniture and it was this bench that cost 250 dollars!"  Uhmmm you wanna know what?  That is THE last time she goes shopping with me :-)

Ryan's Christmas List.

So, not only did we go and buy more plants last Monday on my day off...but we also did a little looking around for Ryan's Christmas list.  Sooooooooo here it is.

Yep, NBD that is all that he wants.  Hey does somebody have a couple bucks I can borrow ;)

****Hey Jarod, the yellow and black....Dewalt (DUH)!  Yeah I am a little slow sometimes!

The nursery....

NO, not THAT kind of nursery you crazy people!!!  A nursery of the plant variety.  Yep, this is what we did with all of our plants:

We decided to set up a spot out in the corner of the property to start planting trees and/or plants as we get them for a good price.  Thennnnnn when we actually have a HOUSE we can transplant them around the yard.

Here are some sweet action photos:

Hahhahaa and one of Ryan looking THRILLED that I won't stop taking pictures.  I am certain that the newness of my camera is getting on his nerves.  Naaawwwwww he'll get over it.

Oh and I really did help plant I just didn't get any action photos.  You guys should give me a big ole collective THANK YOU!  I had what you might like to refer to as a little plumber's crack going on while planting.  So again, YOU'RE WELCOME!!

I do have proof though!

Look at my dirty knees.  Yep, there ya have it!

Here are some up closes shots.

These are all ornamental kale.  Hey you can call it what you want.  Me?  I call it the best 25 cents that I have spent in a long time.

Orrrrr was THIS the best 25 cents I've ever spent?

Nope I've gotta go with the plants on this one!

I have to be honest with you.  Ryan and I headed to Lowe's after we planted all of these and bought another 25 different plants.  Oh and then my dad brought home another 5 plants on Saturday.  What can I say the bargain shopping is in my genes!!

Sadly enough I didn't have this Monday off to help Ryan plant all of the new goods.  Sooooo the poor guy had to plan another 25 plants in the rain....by himself!  I really do have an AWESOME husband :-)

DIY Sunday....or not!

Ok, ok so my Sunday didn't quite pan out the way I had hoped.  I had great intentions of tackling my dining room set makeover.  Soooooo as I was getting ready to head to Lowe's I remembered that I had a baby shower to go to.  YIKES!  I had to kick my fanny in gear and get the show on the road.  I headed to Lowe's to get the TSP (cleaner and de-greaser), the primer, the paint and my paint brushes.  I was successful and got the things I needed for my dining room set....however I ALSO got these:

Oh and these......

I barely had room in the cart for the paint and supplies that I initially went to buy ;)

I literally bought as many as I could fit in the back of my Jeep!  I just couldn't pass them up.  All of the plants on the left were 25 cents and the plants on the right were 49 cents.  Now THAT is a screamin' deal.  I'll show you what I did with all those plants when I come back tomorrow!

Now before I leave I just wanted to share a little picture from the property today.  Ahhhhh I can't wait until I am able to look out my window and see THIS every day <3

Guess what today is??

It is DIY Sunday!!  Yipppeeeee!  I am sure Ryan does NOT share my excitement.  So, I am planning to work on my brooch project and start refinishing the dining room set that I bought.  I don't think I told ya'll about the dining set that I found on craigslist....but I got a really good deal.  I will share some pictures tonight.

Might need a few of these to spark up my creativity.  Not only is it DIY Sunday but it is also Sunday Funday (we all know that leads to Shoot Me Monday)....AND I have tomorrow off.  Wooohhhoooo!

Ca-Cawwww!!!!

If I could include some audio with this post you would really get the feel for the title of this post.  I think most of you can hear me running around saying that.  Anywho, the point of the post is this....

The birds were trying to take over the joint on Sunday.  Ewwwww it is giving me the heebie jeebies just looking at the picture.

Annnddd there they go.  Lucky for us the didn't peck any of our eyes out and left us unharmed ;)

Then mom gave me a little something from my Grandma and Grandpa's house.  Just my thinking, but do you think she is trying to tell me something?

Yep I think mom is telling me that it is about time I learn how to sew!  Nawwwwww, I've made it this far in life without knowing....I think I will survive.  However, something tells me if I make some of the clothes in that book I might not be so "modern".  Ya never know though, chances are pretty good the styles in the book may have made their way back!

Finally, here is a little something else I got from Grandpa's house.

These were some brooch's that belonged to my grandma.  I wanted to do something special with them and found an awesome idea to re-purpose them on one of my absolutely new favorite blogs.  I can't tell you what I am going to do until I have them done! Then I will share the blog where I borrowed the idea from.

As a side note, I am totally in love with Pier 1 lately!  I think a road trip is in my near future.  Look out!!

Dear Lumber Liquidators:

I really CANNOT believe that you sold out of my favorite wood flooring :(  I am secretly crying over here....no really I am.  Lame, I know!!

Remember what it looked like?

Annnndddd that is what I think about my wood floor sitch or lack thereof!
(WOW, sorry to hit you with that beautiful frightening picture at lunch time)

Ok, ok so it wasn't that I was absolutely in love with the color and couldn't find another color that I liked but I WAS absolutely in love with the price.  Sooooooooo back to the drawing board.

Anybody know of any other places that sell wood flooring for a screamin' deal???

Onto a happier note.  I just ordered a new camera and it is supposed to arrive on Saturday.  Woohhoooo!! Hopefully it will make me look better than I do in the picture above......MAYBE!
Here it is.

I am sooooooo excited.  I am sure you are going to have to beg me to STOP taking pictures.

Tap, tap, tap is this thing on????

Hello my loyal followers!!  Did you miss me yet???  Yep I gotta figure I've been gone long enough for you to miss me.  Sooooooo I am back and get prepared for WAY too many pictures!  You wanna know why?  Cuz I ordered my new camera today!!!  It should be here by the weekend and I can't wait.

We just took a few family pictures on the property this weekend for our Christmas cards.  My plan is that by next year our family Christmas card will have OUR NEW HOUSE in the background.

I have PLENTY to update ya'll on....however before I get into the nitty gritty, here are some of the extra pictures from this weekend :-)

Oh and just a little preview on the updates, after all that obsession I had over dark red brick and white siding we have decided to do the out side with some stone, siding and shakers.....see what happens when you have WAY too much time to plan ;)

Here is kind of what we are going with......

LOVE IT!!  Happy to be back and chat with ya soon.

P.S. Mom, don't have the big one cuz I actually blogged tonight ;)

Of course I need a new patio set!!

Uhmmmm DUH why wouldn't I need a new patio set?  I mean I don't have a house let alone a patio to put it on.  However, don't worry your pretty little head, cuz I did indeed score a brand new patio set for my non-existent house with my non-existent patio :-)

Yep you heard me correctly.  Let me take you back to May....I have been eyeing up this patio set at Kroger for MONTHS!!  Every time my mommy and I would stop at Kroger in A2 I would look at it adoringly.  Annnnnddddd just like clockwork my mom would say why don't you just buy it?!!?  I would shake my head and move on because it was 600 BUCKS!!  Waaayyyyyy too pricey for my blood.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago.  Mom and I stopped at the same Kroger in A2 and there was the last floor model market down to 299 bucks.  While that was a good deal, it still wasn't cheap enough for my blood!

Soooooooooo, I stopped at the Kroger in Sylvania the day before we were to head to the Lake for a week of vacation and there it was like a beacon in the night....my fave patio set, brand new in the box for............scroll down.............wait for it........

150 BUCKS!!!!!!!  So what did I do?  I called my mommy again and she said DO IT (read:  I am tired of hearing you talk about it so BUY IT ALREADY)!!

So, here it is:

Yup I love it!!  Let me tell you that Ryan was really impressed when I told him that we needed to take his truck down to Kroger the next day to pick it up.  I will not go into any details about Ryan and I trying to load it in his truck and me thinking he blew his bicep out again.  We'll just keep that between us!  YIKES!!

Ok, do ya'll like the fact that I have pretended like I haven't blogged for 7 weeks?  I thougt if I didn't point it out, then nobody would notice.

So here is the scoop!  I think we have decided to change our exterior.  We are pretty excited about it.  Not only do we think it is more unique but it is going to save us some moolah :-)

Oh on another note, if all goes well we are hoping to start our barn in September!  Wooohhooooo, I think I am going to have plenty to keep you updated on now.....I PROMISE!!

She's Crafty.

Nope I am NOT talking about myself.  I am talking about Emma Jean.  Yep she has always loved doing arts and crafts but I think she has found her calling.  She found a bunch of youtube videos on clay and decided to give it a whirl.  Sooooooo we took a trip to Michael's and 80 bucks later she was ready to try out her clay skeeelllzzzzzz!!  Here are just a few of the things she has been making.  She makes little necklaces out of most of them.  I wished I was half as crafty as she is.  Obviously she got it from Ryan.....

Seriously how cute are these?  A waffle ice cream cone, a traffic cone, a cinnamon roll and DUH a red solo cup (I fill you up.....let's have a party)!!

Another waffle cone, a waffle with butter and a rainbow cake with a slice taken out!  As I said, she's crafty :P

Ok onto house news!  We just might get things going a little sooner than we thought.  I am not going to say anything more than that so I don't jinx anything.  We have to cross a few more T's and dot a couple I's before I get too excited.  Stay tuned and I will keep you in the loop.....I promise!  No really I do :)

Deal of the day!!

OMG!  While perusing the Lowe's online ad this morning before our big family fun road trip to price stuff I found a SCEAMIN' deal!

We got this at Lowe's today......

Hahahha, sorry this is just the picture on the outside of the box cuz apparently it does require a little assembly ;)  However, this vanity AND the sink (oh and the handles are included too) were on sale for 199 bucks!  I couldn't pass it up......so there ya have it.  I also found the solid surface sand stone vanity tops that I want for the kids bathroom vanities. At the rate we're going, we are going to have EVERYTHING we need before we break ground :-)

Oh and just an FYI.....

The washer is broke ;)  Not a good thing when there are 25 people living in one house!!  (Oh and for the record I am on vacay thus my lack of make up)

I made it to Oregon and back in one piece!

Oregon, OHIO you crazies!!  You know I don't make it much further than Ohio ;)  Sooooooo I found my new fave website....well my my new favorite house stuff website.  If you go to Menard's website, they have this crazy little thing called Rayslist and it is the BOMB (wow that sounds really lame).  It has, according to the website, "display models, open box, minor damage or discontinued items in our Menards® Store Bargain areas."  Did I mention that I am hooked???
So you can search for all of the screamin' deals by location.  So, I found this counter top that would fit PERFECTLY in my future laundry room.  As ya'll know I bought these cabinets and I am going to paint them white or cream.....

So I found this counter top on the website and was stalking the Oregon Menard's the last 2 days to make sure they hadn't sold it.  I mean come on 20 bucks for the laundry room counter top?  You cannot beat that.  So thus far I have a whopping $120 wrapped up in the laundry room.

Once my brotha from another motha told me that there was a big ole bridge on the way to Oregon I started to panic a bit.  Soooooo I conned my dad into going with me.  I got out of work at 3:00 today (thank you CoE) and headed home to get my daddy-o and hit the road.  We made 'er in one piece.  ***However let me just say that I about passed out while driving across the bridge.

http://www.toledoblade.com/image/2009/10/13/800x_b1_cCM_z/I-280-bridge-honored-by-Scenic-Ohio-for-its-beauty.jpg

We did make it across (both times) and dad also pointed out to me that it used to be a draw bridge but instead they just made it really HIGHER and alot BIGGER.  That did not help my white knuckles and my driving 50 mph in the middle lane ;)  I digress....back to my new counters!

Here they are in the back of Ryan's truck!
Here is dad pushing my $20 find through Menard's on the biggest bummer cart ever!!  Let me just say that picking a piece of crap cart must be genetic.  I have the gift of picking the worst cart in Kroger EVERY time I go.  I think we got EVERYBODY'S attention with this hot mess of a cart!
Ryan and I are off until Monday so that means lots of house stuff for the next few days.  We REALLY need to get our shizz together and really finish getting all the numbers so we can go to the bank with final numbers.  We also have some more work to do at the property so I'll have lots of action photos to share!

I need your cabinet input!!!

Next on my task list is to find cabinets that I really, REALLY want!  That is where YOU my loyal readers come in.  I have priced several different types but I think I need to price a few more.  Of course, I immediately thought Merrilat but I have had some less than stellar recommendations from several people.  So, the first cabinets I priced were from Menard's and they were made by Shrock.
This is pretty close to the color that I want and the style is going to be slightly different....a bit more simple!

I wanted to share some pictures but those damn pictures are copyrighted within and inch of their lives.

Then I went to this place called American Cabinets and Countertops down on Airport Highway.  I had a certain cabinet all picked out but of course I couldn't get them in the color I wanted.  I am dead set on the color I want and was not budging.  Soooooooo I found another manufacturer that had the color and style I wanted and I SWEAR that not 5 minutes prior the salesman was saying those were the crappiest cabinets they had.  You can't imagine how fast he changed his song and dance one he was trying to sell me those crappy cabinets ;)  Nevermind......

Yeah I am not seeing the style that I wanted but this is the color I want.....Espresso.  This cabinet quote came in about $3,000 less than the Shrock's which made me think even more that they weren't as great quality.

I am now thinking about hitting Home Depot and getting a price on some Kraftmaid Cabinets.  I know exactly what I want, it is just a matter of finding it for the best price and getting the biggest bang for my buck!!

Any of you out there have any advice on cabinet manufacturers?  Believe me I appreciate all the input that I can get!  Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts :-)

I am going to take a road trip to Menard's and Home Depot this weekend (hopefully) so I will have some live action photos of the cabinets I want.  There won't be anybody copyrightin' those photos over my shoulder!

So, so many decisions to make......

Oh and in the meantime, I need to go buy the rest of these for the house so I can check off one item for the house as completely purchased.  Yeah, yeah so they're just doorknobs but those are the little things that get ya in the end!

Oh and tomorrow night I will write up the birthday girl's post!

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

I really need to visit the storage unit!

Before mom and dad kick us out ;)  I have way too much crap stacking up in the loft!  The loft, also known as, our "living room" looks like a burying ground for new home goods.  Holy crap I have accumulated a whole lotta stuff and need to put it somewhere.  Pretty much ANYWHERE but the loft.

There is my very efficient coupon filing system.  Classy, huh?

Some of my stash from Ikea that is exploding at the seems.  Ya see what "as is" purchases get ya?  No packaging!

Then there is that debacle.  A waterfall of home goods, if you will.  There are some stainless steel mixing bowls, a wok, some towels, a duvet cover,  my hurricane vases for the kids' bathroom....and some fishies!

Basically way too much non-essential crap!  Soooooo I am hoping to take a road trip out to the storage unit to free up some space.  Speaking of WAY too much crap.  Wait'll you see the storage unit......

Oh and a little couponing update for ya!  I got all of this for $7.45!!

Heads up for tomorrow's post.  I am going to be spotlighting a very special little birthday girl!!
