As I told you in a previous post, my baby girl is turning 16 and we're having a small party. Trying to steer clear of the whole Sweet 16 theme I needed to find something else she liked. It didn't take long to come up with PINEAPPLES. Pineapples are everywhere lately. Home decor, bags, purses, clothing, you name it!! Annddddd since I like a little bling I couldn't use just plain pineapples so here is what I did.....
My SIL scored 8 pineapples for $1.99 each. I first checked Kroger and they were too pricey at $3.99 each, for this fugal mama, so I asked my friends to be on the lookout. Sure enough she found them for half the price at Aldi. Here is what I started with!
As I said, yellow and green wasn't the look I was going for not to mention I found some inspiration at Marshall's for the colors for the party (I'll share that in a full post after the party) and needed to bling up the pineapples.
So, I opted for my favorite Krylon metallic spray paint and went to town.
Voila, here is the finished product.
Don't you love them? With just a hint of the green peaking through they are perfect. It was quick and easy and the paint dries quickly. For under $20 they are going to be perfect accents on the tables. Come back and I'll show you all the party details next week.

The After: Curio Cabinet
You remember THIS that I teased you with back in January? I told you how cool it was going to look and I couldn't wait to show you when it was finished? Thhheeennnnn in my usual fashion I saw something shiny and forgot. Well, kind of.....it is hard to take pictures of this thing but I did the best I could with my iPhone. So, get ready for a photo dump of the after pictures!!!!
Well what do you think? I loovvveeeee it!!! It was such a cheap and easy way to update the light oak wood that just wan't my jam. And, to be honest I really needed more storage for all the martini glasses that I bought for my bunco night mashtini bar ;)
P.S. Aren't you thankful I had pants on when I took the straight on picture of the cabinet????

Did you think I forgot about you?
It may SEEM like I did but I can assure you that I did not :-) I survived my first year in my new job and whew, it was a crazy one! Crazy, but good. Now that I've made it through a full year I feel like I am settling in. Now I feel like I'm ready to get back into some projects at home and get back into the blogging groove.
One of the projects next on the horizon is the hunt for a new credenza!
Remember this one? My favorite piece of furniture around? Well I sold it (to a very good home).
So, now i'm on the hunt for a replacement and quickly!! Stick around I'll share my hunt with you.
The other thing I'm on a mission to find is a banquette to go in front of the window in my breakfast nook with my little black table that I refinished. This table that you can see in the top left corner.
I want the banquette to go in front of the window and then I'm boing to refinish two of the wooden chairs that go with the table for seating on the opposite side of the banquette.
Something similar to this idea but the banquette will be on a smaller scale since it will be in front of the window and I'll only have two chairs on the opposite side. So keep and eye out for a screamin' deal on an upholstered banquette.

So there ya have it, my current projects. Not to mention a Sixteenth Birthday Party for my baby girl this weekend (I'll share the pics after) and a baby shower for my cousin in August. I love to throw a good party.
Ahhhhh, it feels good to be back <3
